COVID 19 - Pregnancy and Breastfeeding Resources
We have been receiving many calls and messages regarding concerns about coronavirus in relation to pregnancy. Currently, our information that is pregnancy-specific is relatively limited. There are currently no known birth defects caused specifically by the virus. It is very important for you to protect yourself from being exposed to the virus as much as reasonably possible. This includes things like frequent handwashing or use of alcohol-based hand sanitizer, avoiding people who are sick or large groups of people, wearing a face mask, practicing social distancing, avoiding touching your face especially your eyes, nose, and mouth, and covering your cough or sneeze with the inside of your elbow.
If you have fever of 100.4 F of greater with cough or increased shortness of breath, you should contact your primary care doctor, urgent care, or community testing center to be tested. If you feel sick, you should not go to work or out in public. If you have no symptoms, you should continue doing your normal daily activities while wearing a mask.
We are not restricting work due to pregnancy at this time until 36-37 weeks gestation. At that time, patients may consider quarantining prior to delivery. Refer to your employer for the current recommended process for your workplace, whether that is closure, working remotely, or business as usual, as this varies by occupation.
This information is continuing to evolve.
